IBAG, a leading international money transfer company, has announced the launch of its new brand identity under the name “Rimmit”, marking a strategic evolution in its journey to deliver advanced non-banking financial solutions in Egypt and globally.
The rebranding coincides with the company’s 30th anniversary, celebrating three decades of leadership in the remittance sector and reflecting its commitment to strengthening cross-border connectivity and simplifying money transfers for individuals and families worldwide.
This transformation is driven by Rimmit’s vision to provide a more seamless and integrated financial experience. As part of this shift, the company has introduced a new digital application that enables users to transfer funds directly to bank accounts and mobile wallets, in addition to cash pick-up options at the nearest branch, offering greater flexibility and convenience tailored to customers’ daily needs.
Moustapha Sarhank, Executive Chairperson, said: “Launching Rimmit represents a pivotal milestone in our journey, combining our legacy of trust and operational excellence with a forward-looking digital approach. This transformation goes beyond technology and financial solutions; it is centred on enhancing the human experience, simplifying transactions, and building a financial ecosystem where every customer feels valued, connected, and empowered. For 30 years, our mission has been to serve people, bridge distances, and make financial services accessible and reliable for Egyptians and expatriates alike.”
He added that the launch aligns with the company’s commitment to supporting Egypt’s national agenda for financial inclusion, accelerating digital transformation, and contributing to sustainable economic growth, in line with the country’s broader economic vision.
Abdallah El Sada, CEO of Rimmit, said: “Today, we celebrate 30 years of leadership in Egypt’s remittance sector; a milestone that reflects a journey of sustained growth. We serve more than one million customers annually, including Egyptian expatriates and their families, and process over four million transactions, with inbound remittances exceeding $2.4bn each year. Our contribution represents around 10% of Egypt’s total remittance inflows, underlining our role in supporting the national economy and enhancing financial stability.”
El Sada emphasised that financial inclusion and nationwide accessibility remain key priorities. “Through strategic partnerships with leading banks, including the National Bank of Egypt, Banque Misr, and Banque du Caire, we have significantly expanded our reach, particularly among underserved segments,” he said.
The company now operates a network of 176 branches nationwide, including 39 IBAG branches and a presence across 137 partner bank branches—52 within the National Bank of Egypt, 60 in Banque Misr, and 25 in Banque du Caire. He also noted that the company has consistently complied with all regulations set by the Central Bank of Egypt and relevant international bodies.
Ismail Sarhank, Deputy CEO of Rimmit, described the launch as the beginning of a new phase. “With Rimmit, we are redefining our role as a money transfer provider. Our new identity reflects our commitment to delivering accessible financial solutions that empower customers across Egypt—whether through digital channels or our extensive branch network—while maintaining the highest standards of trust and security,” he said.
He added: “With the launch of our new app, we go beyond traditional remittance services to introduce an advanced digital model that enhances the customer experience. By integrating digital innovation with our trusted physical network, we offer fast, flexible, and user-friendly services, including multi-currency capabilities and seamless transfers between bank accounts and mobile wallets.”
As part of its expansion strategy, Rimmit is working to offer advanced financial solutions, including the direct transfer of inbound remittances to bank accounts and mobile wallets in Egypt, alongside receiving transfers through the Rimmit app via dedicated teller windows at branches or directly into accounts and wallets.
The company also provides multi-currency services, supported by strengthened cross-border capabilities through partnerships with leading financial institutions.
The launch of Rimmit marks the start of a new strategic phase focused on building an integrated business model that connects markets and enhances the efficiency of cross-border money flows. In line with this vision, the company is expanding its network through additional partnerships with international money transfer operators, aiming to deliver a fully integrated, multi-channel, and multi-currency service offering.
Looking ahead, Rimmit aims to leverage its extensive experience and strong partnerships to deliver more advanced and flexible transfer solutions driven by digital transformation, in response to evolving customer behaviour—ultimately supporting the competitiveness of Egypt’s financial services sector and reinforcing its position as a regional hub.
