Madbouly tours major factories, reinforces push to localize industry, expand exports

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly conducted an extensive tour of several industrial facilities in 6th of October City and El Sadat City, reaffirming Egypt’s commitment to strengthening local manufacturing, increasing domestic content, and attracting global investment across strategic sectors including automotive, chemicals, engineering, and energy-related industries.

During his visit to Boysen Egypt, which manufactures automotive exhaust treatment systems, Madbouly stressed that the automotive industry and its supply chain remain central pillars of Egypt’s industrial strategy. He highlighted directives from President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to deepen cooperation with the private sector – both local and international – to localize vehicle manufacturing and boost export capacity.

Madbouly said Egypt is working to establish a strong industrial base for the automotive sector, particularly electric vehicles, in line with the country’s green transformation agenda. He added that increasing the local component in manufacturing remains a national priority aimed at reducing imports and enhancing competitiveness.

Officials at Boysen Egypt said the factory is part of a global network comprising 30 international sites and currently maintains 10 strategic partnerships with global automotive brands, with plans for further expansion. The facility produces exhaust systems and silencers for several international car manufacturers and is considered a key supplier within Egypt’s growing automotive ecosystem.

The company also reported strong growth in production and exports, with sales rising from EGP 320m in 2023 to EGP 810m in 2025, and projected to exceed EGP 1bn in 2026. Employment levels have also increased steadily alongside expansions in production lines and the introduction of advanced robotic manufacturing technologies.

Madbouly praised the factory’s performance and affirmed continued government support for its expansion plans, emphasizing its role in strengthening Egypt’s automotive supply chain.

The Prime Minister also visited the expansion project of H.B. Fuller Egypt, a global leader in adhesive manufacturing. The company, which invested $26m in its Cairo facility launched in 2023, is developing a regional export hub serving markets across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and the United States.

The facility has an annual production capacity of 42,000 tonnes, with actual output reaching 25,000 tonnes in 2025. It supplies industries including packaging, automotive, construction, and food safety applications. Part of the company’s production is exported to Europe, with export revenues reinvested in importing raw materials.

H.B. Fuller Egypt employs 142 workers and operates under international quality certifications, including ISO standards and global safety compliance systems. The company is part of the US-based multinational H.B. Fuller, which serves more than 17,000 clients worldwide.

Madbouly also inaugurated Galfa Engineering Industries Factory, part of the Ashry Steel Group, reaffirming the government’s commitment to localizing steel and heavy industries. He underscored the strategic importance of steel manufacturing in supporting national infrastructure and development projects.

The factory produces steel towers, columns, cable supports, and other engineering products, with a monthly output of 8,000 tonnes. It also operates one of the most advanced hot-dip galvanizing lines in Africa and the Middle East, with a production capacity of 10,000 tonnes per month.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of transferring advanced industrial technologies to Egypt, increasing exports, and enhancing the competitiveness of locally manufactured products in international markets.

In another stop, Madbouly visited El Wady Cables Company in El Sadat City, a major player in Egypt’s electrical infrastructure sector. The company supplies cables for several national projects, including Toshka, and cooperates with electricity distribution companies nationwide.

The factory is currently expanding its medium- and high-voltage cable production lines, with implementation progress reaching 70%. It manufactures aluminium and copper cables through advanced production stages, including drawing, insulation, and assembly.
